Pamukkale Tour

Pamukkale means “cotton castle” in Turkish as it looks like. Stunning white travertine is one of the most photographed site of Turkey and attracts many travelers. Not only this beautiful natural landscape, but also historical value of the ruins in Hierapolis makes this place one of the best tourist sites in this country. In 1988, Pamukkale was registered in UNESCO World Heritage List.

With our package tour, we invite you to ...

  1. Natural site of White Travertine
  2. Hierapolis Ancient City
  3. Free Time to enjoy Pamukkale and to experience a unique hot-springs

Natural site of White Travertine

Pamukkale’s travertine is no exaggeration to say "Miracle of Nature". It was made by the flowing of warm spring water with a high content of carbonate minerals over the year. After cooled and hardened, it left calcium deposits on the edge of the cliff and formed into natural pools, shelves and ridges. Its snow-white color is formed by this natural process.

You are going to walk on white travertine with barefoot. Because of the restrictions to protect this natural site, it is prohibited to enter walking area with shoes not to damage the terraces. But can you have such an experience in anywhere else?  Walking in hot springs on white ground and touching its rich nature. When you climb up to the hill from the down, spring water is getting warmer and warmer. You may feel the water very hot especially during summer. Please be careful while walking. Natural rocks are slippery with running water and some sharp-edged rocks might hurt your foot. Keep going to up, then you reach to the half-circle shaped terraces and water come to your ankle to the middle of your calf. When you reach to the top of the hill, fantastic panoramic view of whole travertine and rural scenery are waiting for you to offer the best photo shoot.

Hierapolis Ancient City

This beautiful white travertine is surrounded by some gorgeous ruins and historical sites. Located right above the white terrace, one of these sites is Hierapolis founded by King Eumenes II of Pergamom. This city was originally established for the purpose of military use but had destroyed by an earthquake. After rebuilding, it benefited from natural hot spring and had prospered to be an important spa center. When you explore this ancient city, colonnaded street guides you to find well-preserved ruins. At the north end, you will see the largest necropolis in Turkey, and understand how sacred death was from its size and name of Hierapolis meaning “Holy City”. Byzantine church is located at the southern end of the street. Then take to east. There is the temple of Apollo, where local people believe that Apollo and Artemis met here. The highlight of your exploration at Hierapolis will be the Roman theatre. Standing proudly on the hill, its imposing appearance are very amazing. You must see decorations on the stage that still retain its original details. When you go there, please have a seat at the upper row. Beautiful scenery of typical Greece theatre spread out in front of you.

Free Time to enjoy Pamukkale and to experience a unique hot-springs

You will have some free time to enjoy Pamukkale as you like. You have a chance to bathe in natural pool of white travertine with no additional cost. The minerals of its hot spring contains Calcium and sodium bicarbonate and it is said that they help blood circulation, reducing pains of rheumatism and curing skin problems. It is better to take these benefits since you are here!

As one of another option, in the Hierapolis ruins, there is a thermal pool where the ruins sink into blue water; Cleopatra pool, which were favored by Queen of Egypt, Cleopatra. It is carved into the rock and filled with submerged doric colums and marble pieces of the temple. The high transparency of the water enables us to see these pieces of ruins from outside of water. The thermal water is like champagne water with little air bubbles released from the minerals in the ground and dances along your skin. Lushly green garden provides the relaxing atmosphere and you can enjoy the view of Hierapolis through the trees. Please do not forget to bring your swimsuit and a towel.  You can wear bikini to swim in the pool because here is a place open to foreign tourists comparing to visiting typical mosques in Turkey.
